Obedient body, domesticated body – Michel Foucault developed this concept in his book Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison (1975). In spring 2011, an exhibition was held at Tallinn Art Hall where the entire 200 year old ideology of punishment, which has tried to take care of the human soul, could be seen reflecting in the tired eyes of the artist. Andres Tali’s retrospective exhibition Exit drags the black-and-white burden of a white man, dressed in a suit and tie – with the help of school, church and medicine.
