Autumn 2023

In 1989, the legendary exhibition of young art “I’ve Never Been to New York” was organised in Tallinn. Given the state of the world, we might as well ask if it’s time for the next chapter: “I’ve Never Been to Kyiv”. Because what do we really know about the art of this large European country, thrust into war by our mutual neighbour to the east? You are holding the latest issue of the Estonian art quarterly KUNST.EE. Echoing Kumu Art Museum’s flagship project for the year – “Futuromarennia. Ukraine and the Avant-Garde” – this issue features a special section dedicated to Ukrainian art (designed by Margus Tamm). And as always, we talk about new developments in the worlds of painting, sculpture, photography, and others.

Posing the questions are Elnara Taidre, Tiit Hennoste, Andreas Trossek, Aleksander Metsamärt, Regina Mets, Brigit Arop, Johannes Saar, Kaire Nurk, Konstantin Kuningas, Sandra Jõgeva, Hedi Rosma and Kaido Ole.

Stay tuned!
