Winter 2025

At the end of 2025, we celebrate the 25th birthday of Kunst.ee – a quarter of a century since the premiere issue (1/2000) first appeared. We decided that the most modest and dignified way to mark the magazine’s half-jubilee – and, let’s be honest, also the coolest, allowing for a bit of virtue signalling afterwards – is simply to do nothing special at all. In other words, this issue looks exactly like any other: reviews, interviews, more theory-leaning essays. In short, art writing.

That said, it doesn’t mean we aren’t inviting our readers to the birthday party. Quite the opposite. Throughout December, a one-year subscription to the magazine costs ONLY 25 EUROS instead of the usual 35. Treat yourself, treat a friend, treat relatives near and distant; get one for the office, for your bedside table – get two while you’re at it! Just go to tellimine.ee/kunst-ee, enter your address and make the payment, and next year you’ll receive nearly 400 pages of richly illustrated art reading at almost 30% off! The birthday discount is valid ONLY UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON 31 DECEMBER, so don’t sleep on it – subscribe now.

Anyway, in this birthday issue you’ll find writing on art at home and abroad by Andreas Trossek, Margus Tamm, Gertu Lepik von Wirén, Kaire Nurk, Johannes Saar, Johanna Jolen Kuzmenko, Mai Levin, Elnara Taidre, Andreas Trossek, Brigit Arop, Kerly Ritval and Johanna Roos. And at the back of the issue, you’ll find not one but three special thematic supplements, with contributions from Mėta Valiušaitytė, Indrek Grigor, Hedi Rosma, Mart Lepp, Epp Oidsalu, Villem Saar, Kaisa Linn, Maria Eliisa Jakobson and Birte Endjärv. Plenty to read, and plenty of art to look at.

Stay tuned!
