A Danish messiah in an American ghetto

Carl-Dag Lige visited the exhibition Faith, Hope and Love – Jacob Holdt’s America

Louisiana museum in Humlebæk, Denmark, exhibited a comprehensive exhibition of world-famous Danish photographer and social activist Jacob Holdt (b. 1947). Comprising more than 200 photos taken over the course of several decades – from the 1970s until 2009 – the exhibition was a tribute to and manifestation of Holdt’s activity as a messenger and spokesperson for minority groups in American society. The exhibition was divided thematically into sections – couples, religion, police, and highway – and most of the photos portray people in their everyday environment.
